
Erin Corriveau, MD, MPH

Bio: Erin Corriveau, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the departments of Family Medicine and Community Health as well as in Population Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is a practicing physician, faculty educator, and she directs the Community Health Division within the Family Medicine department. She also serves as the Medical Director of the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, which is in the Kansas City metro area and is the largest local health department in the state of Kansas. She has specialized clinical and public health training in care for communities affected by both drug resistant and drug susceptible tuberculosis.
Dr. Corriveau received her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College, her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and her public health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed residencies in Family & Community Medicine and Preventive Medicine before becoming a faculty physician and public health professional. She is thrilled by the challenge of creatively bringing together public health and medicine to achieve healthy outcomes.

Joanne Dempster, MD, MHA

Bio: Dr. Joanne Dempster joined the faculty at the family medicine residency program at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian in 2019. Since then she has held several leadership roles including the chief of the family medicine inpatient service and associate residency program director. She is currently a core faculty member in the family medicine residency program; the medical director for the family medicine outpatient practice; director of quality for the center for family medicine and chair of the program evaluation committee for the residency program. Her interests include mentoring and supporting the wellbeing of residents, faculty and staff.
Dr. Dempster graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996, and completed her family medicine residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York in 1999. She later stayed on as chief resident until 2000 before joining the faculty in the family and social medicine residency training program at Montefiore. Dr Dempster completed her masters in health administration in 2017 at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health as a participant in the executive masters program.

William Dixon, MD

Bio: William Dixon, MD, is the Program Director at the Southern Illinois University – Quincy Family Medicine Residency, where he also serves as Chief Medical Officer, and is an Associate Professor in Family and Community Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Before returning to SIU -- Quincy as a faculty member in 2014, Bill practiced as a full-spectrum rural Family Physician, emergency department physician, and hospitalist. He became Program Director in July of 2018. As part of the medical school’s commitment to supporting rural medicine across the state, Bill serves as Medical Director for a Critical Access Hospital and 6 rural nursing homes in Illinois. He has spoken and led initiatives regionally and nationally on topics ranging from recruiting diverse residency classes, antimicrobial stewardship, alternative family medicine residency curriculum models, and recruitment and retention of medical providers in rural areas.

Roli Dwivedi, MD

Bio: Dr. Roli Dwivedi is an Associate Professor and the Mac Baird Vice Chair in Community Engagement and Advocacy within the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She also serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Clinical Officer at the Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC). Additionally, Dr. Dwivedi is the current President of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) and a board member of the Minnesota Association of Community Health Centers (MNACHC).
Dr. Dwivedi is deeply committed to serving underserved populations, advancing global health, and providing culturally-sensitive care. Her work focuses on reducing health disparities and mentoring the next generation of medical students and residents.

Carlos Elguero, MD, FAAFP

Bio: Dr. Carlos Elguero is the Clinical Vice Chair, Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Albany Medical College, Assistant Residency Director, and Director of Geriatrics for the Family Medicine Residency program. He is the Medical Director of the residency practice, where he focuses on operations and quality improvement. He additionally serves on the Quality and Electronic Health Records Committee for his multispecialty group. Dr. Elguero completed his Family Medicine Residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He completed his MD degree from Ross University in Dominica. He enjoys practicing in an urban setting and serving a diverse patient population, in addition to inpatient hospital medicine and nursing home care. In prior years, he was fortunate to travel to Uganda for medical relief and serve on the board as the Medical Director of the Engeye Health Clinic. He also served and participated as a county delegate for the New York State Academy of Family Physicians and continues to be involved in his local chapter. He has received numerous awards for medical student and residency education.

Jon Hallberg, MD

LEADS Project: The (Reel) Good Doctor: Increasing the Authentic Representation of Family Physicians in Film and Television
Bio: Jon Hallberg, MD, is a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. He is the director of philanthropy for the department, and he’s the founding creative director of the medical school’s Center for the Art of Medicine (CFAM). Jon is also the medical director of the M Physicians Mill City Clinic in Minneapolis where he continues to care for a large panel of patients.
Since 2020, Jon has produced four television shows in the “Art + Medicine” series with Twin Cities Public Television (TPT PBS). All four have been picked up for national distribution and three ("Reflections on the Pandemic," "Speaking of Race," and "Disability, Culture and Creativity") have won regional Emmy Awards, with the fourth show (“Disability, Culture and Creativity”) recently receiving an Emmy nomination. He’s also produced three MotionPoems films, and one documentary short (“How to Care”) which has been submitted to numerous film festivals. He currently has several other projects in various stages of preproduction.
Jon is a graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his residency at Smileys (U of M), and has been on faculty at the medical school since 2001.

Shawn Hickernell, MHA

Bio: Shawn Hickernell, is the Sr. Director, Department Administrator for Family and Community Medicine at Banner Health. Shawn holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from Penn State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Penn College. Throughout his career, Shawn has demonstrated a strong commitment to building processes and programs that positively impact patient advocacy, patient safety, and employee engagement. His comprehensive understanding of family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine and behavioral health, has enabled him to lead and innovate in complex healthcare environments. Shawn successfully managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led large teams of clinical and non-clinical staff, and spearheaded expansion projects to increase access to healthcare services for underserved populations.

Shermeeka Hogans-Mathews, MD

Bio: Dr. Shermeeka Hogans-Mathews is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health at Florida State University College of Medicine, where she is dedicated to promoting physician wellness and addressing mental health disparities within underserved populations. In addition to her role as Block Co-Director for the Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Systems and Reproductive Systems courses and Course Director for Primary Care Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, Dr. Hogans-Mathews is actively involved in departmental governance as a member of the Wellness Committee, Nominating Committee, and the Recruitment and Retention Committee.
With a clinical emphasis on primary care psychiatry, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Hogans-Mathews’s research focuses on the impact of perfectionism, mental health, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on patient outcomes and mental wellness in medical education. Her work has been published in Family Medicine, Sleep Health, and Nicotine and Tobacco Research, reflecting her commitment to addressing health inequities. An honored Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Hogans-Mathews is a dedicated mentor and an active participant in various professional organizations. Recognized by the American Medical Women’s Association and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, she is known for her contributions to wellness, medical education, and advancing care for underserved communities.
Dr. Hogans-Mathews graduated from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2015 and completed her family medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency and served as a chief resident during her last year of residency.

Katie Imborek, MD

Bio: Dr. Katherine Imborek is a distinguished Family Medicine physician and Clinical Professor at University of Iowa Health Care. She earned her BA in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine from DePauw University and her MD from the University of Iowa. Dr. Imborek completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa, where she also served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Imborek is the co-founder and co-director of the UI Health Care LGBTQ+ Clinic and has been instrumental in advancing LGBTQ+ health care. She has held various leadership roles, including Interim Associate Vice President for Health Parity and Director for Offsite Clinical Care at University of Iowa Health Care. She current serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in the Department of Family Medicine and has a keen interest in the intersection of clinical efficiency, provider experience, and high-quality care. Her dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident through her numerous awards, such as the University of Iowa Catalyst Award and the GLMA Health Professional Advancing LGBT Equality Achievement Award.
An active researcher, Dr. Imborek has published on LGBTQ health, transgender patient outcomes, and telemedicine. She is a sought-after speaker, having presented at numerous national conferences. Dr. Imborek’s commitment to education is reflected in her extensive teaching and mentoring activities, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

David Kelley, MD

Bio: Dr. David M. Kelley is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Division of Undergraduate Education in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He joined the faculty in 2022 and has since demonstrated a strong commitment to education, serving in various capacities, including Principles of Medicine 2 Co Course Director and division head for education. He previously has also served as a Clerkship Director running a statewide clerkship as well as directing adjunct faculty. He has been involved in curriculum development, design, and implementation for a decade in his various roles. Dr. Kelley has received multiple teaching awards, recognizing his excellence in the classroom and dedication to student learning. His accolades include the Stanton L. Young Master Teacher Award, the Dewayne Edwards Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Aesculapian Award. In 2024, he was honored with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, reflecting his commitment to compassionate care.
An AAFP Fellow, Dr. Kelley has delivered numerous presentations at national conferences, sharing his expertise and insights with the broader medical community. Originally from Colorado, he earned his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago and completed his residency at the La Grange Family Medicine Residency.
Dr. Kelley's clinical interests encompass women's health, pediatric care, and preventive health across the lifespan. Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys baking, engaging in home improvement projects, and spending quality time with his family.

Hobart Lee, MD

LEADS Project: FM CARES: Family Medicine Coaching and Academic Resiliency for Education and Service
Bio: Dr. Hobart Lee is the Vice Chair for the Department of Family Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and the residency program director for the Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium (LLUHEC). Dr. Lee attended medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his family medicine residency and academic faculty development fellowship at the University of Michigan. He is an associate professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. While program director, his sponsoring institution reorganized into a consortium model and his residency became a teaching health center (THC) sponsored program. Dr. Lee has experience with multiple residency funding sources including the THC GME program, state grants funds, and the Veterans Administration (VA). He has experience with rural tracks and has received HRSA grants for team-based care and integrated behavioral health. He helped run a combined 4-year family and preventive medicine residency track and his residency was one of the pilot residencies for the national lifestyle medicine residency curriculum. He is an AAFP Residency Program Solutions consultant helping expand, develop, and strengthen new and established residency programs.

Dan Sepdham, MD

Bio: Dan Sepdham, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as the department’s Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and the Associate Program Director of UT Southwestern’s Family Medicine Residency Program. He specializes in family medicine.
After completing his residency, Dr. Sepdham spent six years as a United States Air Force flight surgeon. He completed tours of duty at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and Royal Air Force Lakenheath station in England. Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Sepdham joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006.
He holds the Drs. Malone V. Hill and John W. Pate Professorship in Family Medicine. In addition to his research, he regularly gives lectures and presentations on medical student education. Dr. Sepdham is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.

Zubair Syed, MD

Bio: Dr. Zubair A. Syed, MD, FAAFP, currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), Dallas, Texas. With over 20 years of experience in Family Medicine, Dr. Syed has held several key leadership roles, including as the Family Medicine Residency Program Director for 9 years ( 7/2014-6/2023) , Medical Director of the Integrated Pain & Healing Clinic at Parkland Health and at the Medical Executive Committee for the Family Medicine Department for UTSW.
Dr. Syed completed his M.B.B.S. at Al-Ameen Medical College in India, followed by a Family Medicine residency at the Mid-Hudson Family Practice Residency Program in New York. A recognized leader in his field, he has earned several prestigious awards, including the Program Director Recognition Award and the Aesculapius Award for Teaching Excellence.
Dr. Syed is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP) and serves on multiple committees, including the Graduate Medical Education Committee at UT Southwestern. As a principal investigator, he has secured significant grant funding for rural residency programs and is actively involved in research, with publications focusing on medical education, faculty promotion, and healthcare disparities. In addition to her administrative duties, she has maintained her clinical practice at Emory at Rockbridge in Stone Mountain, Georgia for over 20 years. Her areas of clinical focus are adolescent mental health, addiction, and chronic disease management.

Kristi VanDerKolk, MD, FAAFP

Bio: Kristi VanDerKolk, MD, FAAFP is a Family Physician, Associate Professor and Program Director at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She earned her medical degree at Wayne State University and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. VanDerKolk’s professional and research interests include diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), graduate medical education, physician wellness and legislative. Clinically, she focuses on gender affirming care of patients of all ages within the construct of a family medicine clinic. She continues to work clinically with residents caring for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Brandon Williamson, MD

LEADS Project: Development of a departmental onboarding and mentoring process for new faculty.
Bio: Brandon Williamson is a Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Primary Care and Rural Medicine in the Texas A&M College of Medicine. In this role, he assists with department goals related to clinical care and graduate medical education as additional service lines and residencies are being established. He is PI for a $2 million HRSA training grant related to the care of patients with limited English proficiency to equip his residents as they graduate and practice in rural America. He is one of the founding core faculty members of the STFM POCUS Certificate Program that focuses on “training the trainers” and expanding POCUS within Family Medicine.
Formerly an Associate Program Director for the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency, he is heavily invested in resident remediation and clinical pedagogy related to the full spectrum of Family Medicine. He retains a heavy clinical practice related primarily to inpatient medicine, obstetrics, and outpatient procedures.
